I have today announced my candidacy to contest the State election on 24th November, 2018. For the past 12 years I have had the privilege and honour to represent the residents of the Morwell electorate. My decision albeit relatively close to the election is a considered one and one supported by my close network of family and friends.
I have also been buoyed by many the community members who have offered me encouragement to stand. Over my time as a Member of Parliament, our community have experienced many highs and lows – from investment towards our local hospital through to the tragedy of the Black Saturday bushfires. By fighting our way through some of the challenges and the lows experienced, I firmly believe it can only make our community stronger into the future.
There has been much attention given to the Morwell electorate over recent times and a quality field of candidates have already committed to contest this upcoming election. Many commitments have been made by the major political parties and no matter who is elected into Government on 24 November, the Morwell electorate is set to benefit from desperately needed investment to help sustain and create jobs.
If I have the opportunity to again represent the Morwell electorate over the next 4 years, then I will work with the Government of the day to implement not only their commitments but my policies that I have been releasing over the past months. I wish all candidates well for the next 3 weeks and hope the campaign will be a contest of ideas and initiatives that ultimately benefit the wonderful people who choose to live in the Morwell electorate.
