Following the further counting of votes and the distribution of preferences by the Victorian Electoral Commission, I am beyond thrilled in knowing that I will continue in my role as the Member for Morwell.
I have had the privilege to serve in this capacity for the past twelve years; and to be able to still represent my community for the next four years is an absolute honour.
I take the opportunity to congratulate all candidates for the spirit in which the campaign was conducted, in what was a hard fought contest. I well understand that there is much hard work ahead over the next four years, and this is something I am very much looking forward to.
The State Government has made a number of commitments to our electorate and I will work closely with the relevant Ministers to ensure these pledges are delivered in total. In addition I intend to as a matter of urgency ensure the Government considers the many policy announcements that I had made in the months leading up to the election.
On a personal level, I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to my family, friends, staff, supporters and community members for their support and assistance to me over the previous four years and during the election campaign.
Thank you to all those that have sent their best wishes over the past period of time and I also thank the Morwell electorate for electing me as their representative in the 59th Parliament of Victoria.
