Member for Morwell Russell Northe today joined volunteer firefighters at Yallourn North Fire Brigade to pledge his support to ensure all firefighters in Victoria are able to access assistance under any future presumptive legislation.
Member for Morwell Russell Northe is one of the first MP’s to sign the pledge today.
The pledge is: I will support CFA volunteers with cancer; and
I will vote for non-discriminatory Presumptive Legislation for all Victorian firefighters
Mr Northe called on Premier Daniel Andrews to deliver legislation that does not discriminate against the men and women in Victoria’s volunteer brigades who protect our communities.
“I’m proud to make this pledge and show my support to all local volunteers and ensure they are offered equal protection for protecting Victoria,” Mr Northe said.
“I will not support an unfair system that favours some firefighters over others. All firefighters deserve equal protection.
“This pledge is about providing certainty for Victoria’s hardworking firefighters and their families.
“By signing this pledge it recognises the risks faced by our local firefighters who work on the frontline to keep our community safe from the threat of fires and other emergencies.”
All Members of the Victorian Parliament are being encouraged to sign this pledge to support our volunteer firefighters.
