Member for Morwell Russell Northe is pleased to get behind the Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) to raise awareness of Mental Health. It is an important time for the community to come together and raise awareness especially after what has been a very difficult year for all.
After the success of previous years National Mental Health Month Awareness Campaign in Victoria the MHFA has extended the program to all state and territories for the month of October for 2020.
“The National Mental Health Month program is aimed at reaching out and educating as many as possible to help reduce the stigma and encourage open discussions on Mental Health” Mr Northe said.
The theme for this year’s Awareness campaign is Mental Health Matters, this theme is to highlight the gravity of mental health and how important it is to address it within the community.
“Raising awareness for Mental Health helps educate and engage communities in important discussions to further fight for Mental Health support” said Mr Northe
The National Mental Health Month program will kick off with a launch tonight form 6pm-8pm which can be accessed through the calendar link, all the events scheduled can be found though the downloadable calendar here.
Events including forums on Youth Mental Health, Mental Wellness Workshops, musical events can be accessed links to access these events can be found on the National Mental Health Month Calendar here.
“I encourage everyone to join any of the events where possible, due to the pandemic situation MHFA have launched a walktober app that allows everyone to participate in the highly popular walk for mental health” Mr Northe said.
