Member for Morwell and Chair of the Get it Built committee, Russell Northe is inviting the community to take part in Latrobe Valley’s largest group photo on Thursday.
Mr Northe said the large scale photograph would be included in a funding application to demonstrate the huge community support for building a new Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon.
“We’re encouraging all members of the community to come along and have their photo taken to pledge their support for a new performing arts centre to be built in Traralgon,” Mr Northe said.
“Unfortunately our community has missed out for many years on attracting high profile shows and events, due to the current Arts Centre’s limited size and facilities.
“It is a long held frustration that Traralgon has been bypassed in lieu of shows and events hosted in both Sale and Warragul.
“A redeveloped Performing Arts Centre will reverse this trend and that’s why we are working hard to secure funding so the project can go ahead.”
Spokesperson from the Get it Built group and independent theatre producer, Dan Clancey said it was important the community get on board with this campaign.
“An application for funding will be submitted in February and with this photo we want to show the wide community support for this project,” Mr Clancey said.
“What better way to send a strong message to all levels of Government that our community is serious about securing funding and making this project happen.”
The large scale photoshoot will take place on Thursday 21st January, 4pm, on the corner of Grey and Church Streets, Traralgon.
