Member for Morwell Russell Northe has announced the four winners of his annual Christmas card design competition today.
“The four winning designs were Brady Gaspero from Tobruk Street Primary School (Age 10), Will Murray from St Michael’s Primary School (Age 11), Sophie McLaren from Flinders Christian College (Age 8) and also a student from Commercial Road Primary School,” Mr Northe said.
“I congratulate all students on their winning designs.”
Mr Northe wrote to all primary schools in the electorate inviting students to design the cover of his 2016 Christmas cards, asking students to get creative with a Christmas themed design. ”I received hundreds of entries from 9 different schools across the Morwell electorate,” Mr Northe said.
Mr Northe said the artistic talent of our youth is very impressive, I was blown away by the calibre of artwork that was sent in, and the variation of designs, patterns, colours and materials.
“These thoughts were seconded by our judge in Andrea Ramsay from the Traralgon and District Arts Society, who was very impressed with all pieces of art,” Mr Northe said.
“Andrea advised how difficult it was to choose just four designs, as they were all excellent.
“I want to thank each and every student for participating and providing me with such creative designs.” The four winning designs will feature on Russell’s 2016 Christmas card, and each of the winners will receive printed copies of their Christmas card, a copy of their artwork in poster size and an art pack in appreciation of their outstanding efforts.
