Community groups and Council’s can now apply for crime prevention grants of up to $10,000 for stream 1 projects and funding of up to $25,000 is available for stream 2 projects as part of the Governments Community Safety Fund.
Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging local community groups within the Morwell electorate to think about innovative and practical community safety projects that might assist their organisation.
The Stream 1 grants of up to $10,000 are aimed at preventing crime in and around community facilities and public spaces.
“This includes the installation of security lighting, padlocks, security screens, fencing or undertaking awareness activities to deter crime and increase community safety” said Mr Northe
The Stream 2 grants of up to $25,000 are aimed at education and awareness initiatives focusing on home safety, theft form businesses, personal property theft in public places and thefts relating to motor vehicles.
“Local communities are best placed to identify solutions to local problems, and the Community Safety grants provide an opportunity to make this a reality” Mr Northe said.
Applications for the latest grant rounds close at 4pm on Friday 18 October 2019.
