Member for Morwell Russell Northe has welcomed the announcement of the States first motorsport and motorcycling funding program, backing community clubs, participants and encouraging greater female participation.
“The community motorsports program was launched as part of the $7.1m “Racing into a New Era for Motorsport” and are now open for application” said Mr Northe.
Grants of up to $20,000 are available for the purposes of hosting events and activities; whilst up to $5,000 is on offer for initiatives that boost female participation. Other funding streams include support for the purchase of equipment, training of volunteers and infrastructure upgrades.
“These grants can make a real difference to local grassroots motorsport and motorcycle clubs and organisations in the Morwell electorate. Motorsports are extremely popular in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland region, and it’s pleasing to see funding opportunities available for motorsport clubs and their volunteers and participants” added Mr Northe.
Applications are open to motorsport clubs and organisations currently affiliated with Motorsport Australia or Motorcycling Victoria, this also includes clubs and organisations affiliated with a delegated body of Motorsport Australia such as karting Victoria or the Australian National Drag Racing Association.
Grants from the Community Motorsport Program are available under two categories:
• Motorsport Club Assistance –initiatives to boost women and girls participation (up to $5,000); hosting events and activities (up to $20,000); funding to purchase safety and operational equipment (up to $10,000); training for volunteers and officials to build club capacity (up to $5,000).
• Infrastructure Upgrades and Equipment – funding to purchase critical facility equipment (up to $50,000); and deliver minor (up to $100,000) and major infrastructure developments (up to $500,000).
The Community Motorsport Program will have four rounds of assessment periods with final applications closing June 30 2022.
