As the festive season approaches, many people will take the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, and take a well-earned rest.
Many of us are probably wondering how another year passed so quickly and are pledging to spend more time on the things that are really important to us in 2016. Christmas is about giving and enjoying the company of family and friends, and is a time when we celebrate the special gifts we have been given and to share those gifts with others.
But there are those less fortunate in our communities who can find the Christmas holiday period particularly difficult. Please take time to think of them and keep an eye out for anybody who might be experiencing a tough time this Christmas.
When purchasing your Christmas gifts please give regard to the importance of shopping locally and supporting local businesses. Our local businesses support our community organisations, schools and sporting clubs as well as providing employment to local residents. So let’s give back to our local businesses by shopping locally this festive season.
For those going away for the festive season please take care on the roads and show respect to other drivers.
During the holiday period consider taking time to visit the wonderful attractions that exist within our region. There are plenty of things to do across Gippsland, so why not spend a few days visiting local destinations?
Merry Christmas and best wishes to you and your family for 2016.
